We open our Stoke-on-Trent office which will by 1991 become our head quarters.
1990
Our steel stockholding division was consolidated into a separate subsidiary - Brown McFarlane Ltd.
2001
A dedicated export department based near Birmingham is set up to take our range of products and services to new markets around the world.
2002
A joint venture is set up with a Johannesburg based steel service centre to hold stocks of pressure vessel plate to service the South African market.
2003
Selling over 50,000 tonnes of steel plate each year, Brown McFarlane is now one of Europe’s major processors and distributors of steel plate.
2005
A 65% share is purchased in a South African steel service centre based in Richards Bay. The company, renamed Brown McFarlane Africa Pty Ltd, will treble in size in the next two years.
2009
Brown McFarlane Africa opens a new stockholding and processing facility in Johannesburg, the heart of South Africa’s manufacturing industry. The company now operates from three sites.
2010
Brown McFarlane is one of the first steel stockholders in Europe to be awarded the prestigious ISO 14001 Environmental Management accreditation.
2010
Brown McFarlane International opens a new purpose built covered warehouse in Jebel Ali. The warehouse will hold up to 9,000 tonnes of high quality steel plate.
2011
A new plate storage and distribution facility is opened in the middle of the port of Antwerp.
2011
Brown McFarlane Far East opens a warehouse in the Jurong district of Singapore to stock and distribute a range of high quality pressure vessel and offshore grade steel plates.
