The local company with an international pedigree

Brown McFarlane Africa began life in 2005 as a joint venture between South African steel entrepreneur Mark Mitchley and the world leading specialist steel plate distributor and processor Brown McFarlane which is based in the United Kingdom.

The partnership brought together an intimate knowledge of the South African market, fabrication expertise, and more than 120 years of experience in global steel distribution. The business developed rapidly and now operates from three strategically located sites in Richards Bay, Durban, and Johannesburg. This enables it to service South Africa and the Southern African sub continent with its range of steel plates, cut to size profiles, piles, and spiral weld pipes.

A full range of standard structural steel plate (300WA / 350WA / S355JR) is available from stock; and the specialist steel plate stock includes boiler and pressure vessel grades for the process and energy industries and quenched and tempered high strength and abrasion resistant steels for mining, quarrying, and yellow goods.
