Steel Piling Products
Brown McFarlane Africa is a leading manufacturer of steel casings and sheet piles and has supplied all the major piling contractors in Sub-Saharan Africa.
All manufacturing is to EN 10249-2:1996 Cold Formed Sheet Piling for Non-Alloy Steels Part 2 requirements. All casings and sheets are supplied with QCP (Quality Control Plans) and with mill test certificates to give the client peace of mind in using our products and services.
We make two types of piling:
Sheet piles
The sheet piles are made to specification to meet the structural requirements for the particular application. We manufacture sheet piles up to 12m long and in sheet thicknesses from 6mm to 12mm. The sheet piles are used in structures such as: a) Coffer Dams b) Retaining walls c) Deep trenches d) Wharfs and jetties e) Berth deepening f) De-watering and similar applications. Because our sheet piles are produced on a bending brake , this allows us the flexibility to produce sheet piles to virtually any structural configuration. All we need to have at our disposal is the moment of inertia and the elastic section modulus and from these requirements , we can recommend a suitable structural section.
Pile casings
We have been producing fabricated structural steel pile casings since 2003. We are able to offer pile casings from a 600mm OD x 6mm wall thickness x 12m long up to a 3,000mm OD x 40mm wall thickness x 12m long. All casings are submerged arc welded to API requirements. We can produce casings in the following steel grades:
Due to our extended fabrication capabilities , we also offer ancillary components such as a)Rock shoes made from high yield steels b) on site welding and testing c) temporary bracing d) welding frames e) marine working platforms f) general structural steel fabrication.
We offer a full range of protective coatings for both sheet piles and pile casings. We have a blasting and coating facility at our Richards Bay works where we can blast to SA 2.5 specification and where we offer coatings such as zinc –based undercoat and prime coats , solvent free epoxy , solvent based epoxies and similar products..
