“Headline: Brown McFarlane has featured in the latest copy of The Parliamentary Review

With an exclusive foreword from the prime minister and an introduction from the BBC's Andrew Neil, each version of The Parliamentary Review also features dynamic content from a range of directors and executives from across the country. Established multinationals join our nation's most exciting start-ups to provide a true sense of British industry in 2018.

Brown McFarlane was founded in Glasgow in 1888 by Captain AR Brown, to supply ships from the colossal yards of the River Clyde to Japan's navy and merchant fleets. Now headed by Tony O'Reilly (managing director) and Martin Maley (executive chairman), they employ around 100 people, including six apprentices, and discuss in their Review article their recruitment concerns, challenges concerning Europe, and the importance of continual investment.

Manufacturing excellence has always been a jewel in the crown of British industry, and progress over recent years has proven that this sentiment is still accurate. The 2017/18 edition of The Parliamentary Review covers a variety of sub-sectors and includes submissions from companies across the country.

The Parliamentary's Review long-time chief editor, former member of parliament David Curry, has expressed his excitement before the launch of the latest Review. "Given the range of articles we have from organisations of all shapes and sizes, from up and down our country, this year's Review will undoubtedly be the most comprehensive and informative yet."

Writing in The Review, the prime minister says that "British politics provides ample material for analysis in the pages of The Parliamentary Review."

parm reviewIn response to the above Tony O’ Reilly (M.D.) said, “It’s been a great experience researching our company history, reflecting on our values and articulating our ambition, it also fills me with pride that Brown McFarlane have an article published in such a prestigious publication.

Four of us attended the Parliamentary Review gala evening and were entertained by some great speakers. Lord Blunkett recalled some amusing anecdotes that only a blind politician could experience. Tony Blair, on his first visit to parliament since his departure from government, shared some light-hearted reflections about his time in office. They were more than ably supported by Julia Hartley-Brewer who came out with some great one liners about the two B’s – Brexit and Boris.

Hopefully the widespread circulation and the networking events will enhance the company profile and lead to more commercial opportunity.”
