Whilst there is a lot of work to be done in readiness for Target 2050, we’ve actually been managing our business from an environmental impact point of view since 2010:
- We’ve installed 1152 solar panels on the roof of Ladywell Works
- We’ve installed energy saving lighting in communal areas as well as switching to LED lighting
- We’ve introduced a process whereby excess steel is recycled to be used again
- We work with our suppliers to use the most eco friendly systems, processes and equipment not just here but also further down the supply chain
- We’re currently looking into how we can harvest rain water
- We’re also in the early stages of researching nitrogen regeneration
We want everyone to know that we’re committed to reducing our environmental impact but also how we’re planning on doing that.
There are two ways that any business can aim to become carbon neutral:
We believe that the best approach is to not create the carbon in the first place so in readiness for Target 2050 we are looking at our current carbon footprint and the ways in which we can remove it from our processes to become a Net Zero business.
We’ll do this by looking at:
- Our facilities
- Our lease vehicles
- Our use of water, electricity, steam and heating
- Transportation and distribution
- Processing of products
- Operation waste and recycling
