Martin joined the Brown McFarlane in September 2014 as Executive Chairman and has over 36 years' experience within the steel industry. A seasoned industry professional he has had a series of senior management and Directorial positions within Tata UK, in Commercial, Operational, and General management roles. He brings with him a wealth of experience in strategic management and has operated extensively in domestic and international markets.

Tony O’Reilly Managing Director

Tony has worked in the steel industry for 32 years. Starting on the shop floor, progressing through supervisory and management roles and prior to joining Brown McFarlane as UK Managing Director in August 2016, held Director positions within Tata UK. He brings plenty of operational and commercial expertise and is an experienced and successful business leader.

Peter Brown Group Finance Director

Peter is a member of the Brown family that owns Brown McFarlane, the fifth generation of the family to do so, and joins his brother, our Chairman Richard Brown, on the Board. Peter joins from a senior position within Lloyds banking group bringing with him a strong background in corporate banking and accounting not to mention a great understanding of the business.

Mick Burnett Group Purchasing Director

Mick has been with Brown McFarlane for 25 years. During this time he has operated in a number of departments including Quality Assurance, Production and Sales. He is responsible for all steel procurement within the Brown McFarlane Group dealing with suppliers around the world and monitoring and managing stocks in all of the Group's warehouse locations. He has extensive knowledge of all steel specifications and their associated suppliers.

Paul has over 30 years experience in the steel industry with extensive involvement in quality systems management (including the automotive sector). During this time he has developed unique experience and skills working with customers, inspection bodies and suppliers across a wide range of industries.

Anthony has worked at Brown McFarlane for 17 years and is a highly valued member of the production team. With an understanding of our state of the art CNC machines and CAD softwares, and extensive experience of large scale projects, he leads the development of the CAD process to continually reduce lead times and costs for our customers.

Mike currently heads up our quotation & supply service for storage tank manufactures (England / Wales) and has a wealth of experience, from his original engineering background through to over 20 years experience in steel distribution. Mike is equally at home in supplying simple “one off” profiles or completely quoting and project managing a complex fabrication including elements such as cad design, profile cutting, weld preparation, shot blasting and machining.

Duncan Nicolson Account Manager: Specialising in Boiler / Pressure Vessel / Chrome Molybdenum Steels

Duncan’s involvement with the Steel Industry spans over 35 years. He originally worked for British Steel (Corus) prior to joining Brown Mcfarlane, where he has been a vital component of the sales team for well over 25 years. Duncan has extensive specialist knowledge regarding all technical aspects of boiler / pressure vessel plate supply (including HIC requirements). Duncan has supplied steel to many of the world’s largest corporations including the likes of Petrobras, Conoco Phillips and Chevron.

Dean joined Brown McFarlane over 5 years ago and has gained experience in both our CAD departement, where his practical skills were a great contribution and then into our Quality Assurance team. David Smith Sales Director - Stainless Steel

David heads up our Stainless Division. He has more than 30 years experience gained solely in the stainless plate and plate processing market where he has worked with mills, stockholders and profilers. David is responsible for all stainless sales in the U.K. as well as assisting the Group's export team to develop sales of stainless plate products worldwide.

Neil has more than 19 years experience in the stainless industry and comes from a Quality Assurance background, He now handles all aspects of our customers' plate and profile requirements.

Gerard started working in the Stainless Steel Industry in South Africa in 1999, before moving permanently to the UK in 2006. He has an excellent technical knowledge of stainless flat and long products having worked for large, international companies including Sandvik, Stappert and Valbruna before joining the Longbridge based team.

Terry has over 20 years' experience within the steel industry having started his career in the steel stockholding environment and subsequently working in commercial roles with Tata UK and Salzgitter AG. His product knowledge includes reversing mill plate, hot rolled sections and strip mill materials. With several years' experience operating in the Middle East market Terry has special responsibility for the Middle East, India and Chinese/Far East markets. This vast experience combined with the strong mill relationships enjoyed by Brown McFarlane ensures he is able to offer comprehensive and competitive offers and advice for all your steel requirements.

Oliver is the newest member of the International Team and has over 8 years' experience in the steel industry, primarily in strip mill products. His broad functional experience means that Oliver is able to assist with the full range of products and services that Brown McFarlane Ltd offer.

Andy Fotheringham International and Business Development

Andy has over 25 years' experience within the steel industry having started his career in the technical department with the British Steel plates business. As a Metallurgist with a Business Degree, he has subsequently worked in a variety of commercial roles and developed extensive experience across a wide range of steel products. His product knowledge ranges from reversing mill plate, hot rolled sections, bulb flats, tubulars and hollow sections and was honed during his time building an Offshore Structures related business within Tata Steel providing supply solutions to the Global E.P.C industry. Andy has worked in a variety of market sectors including Shipbuilding and Oil and Gas and Petrochemical. With many years of domestic and International experience, Andy has taken on responsibility for the International business within Brown McFarlane and we are already seeing our position in the multi product sales area strengthen. This wide experience combined with the strong mill relationships enjoyed by Brown McFarlane ensures he is able to offer comprehensive and competitive offers and advice for all your steel requirements.

Matthew Kirby Sales Account Manager – Americas

Matthew joined the International division in 2011, and has overall responsibility for sales into Brazil, Mexico and Latin America. With a degree in Business Administration, Matthew speaks fluent Portuguese and has been living in Brazil since 2013. Matthew has built strong relationships with his customers, and has supplied niche grades of high quality steel plate to fabricators of industrial equipment destined for the oil & gas, energy, pulp & paper, mining and petrochemical industries. He has extensive knowledge and experience of dealing with PETROBRAS and PEMEX specifications.

Onildo Melo Sales Account Manager – Americas

Onildo joins Brown McFarlane with 20 years’ technical and commercial experience having held managerial positions in the metallurgical engineering and electro-mechanical sectors. Onildo has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of São Paulo, and an MBA in Marketing Management. He speaks fluent English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese and has worked many years as an engineer and in business development in the American, European, African and Asian markets, where he has established relationships with companies in the oil & gas, pulp & paper, food & beverage, energy and chemical industries.
